Backstory

A good combat plane should encapsulate several key qualities: simplicity in construction, lightweight yet strong materials, impressive speed, and the ability to turn tightly without sacrificing momentum. While achieving all these features can be challenging, The Pirate comes incredibly close.

Crafted with a thin airfoil and a small wing area, this model is built for speed. The inclusion of wing flaps allows for tighter turns without any loss of velocity. We’ve carefully selected materials to ensure The Pirate remains light yet robust. In fact, one model was flown all season long, enduring numerous crashes with only minor damage!

With a wing area of just over 300 square inches and a total weight ranging between 15 to 17 ounces, The Pirate boasts an excellent wing loading. Featuring a Fox .35 engine, it can exceed 80 mph and perform loops with a diameter of about ten feet while maintaining speed.

The box fuselage design provides enhanced wing support, ease of repair, and an overall stronger yet lighter structure. Plus, the controls are conveniently placed on the outside, making adjustments and hookups a breeze.
